SAN MARCOS, Texas — Texas State University has announced the winners of the ninth annual Award for Excellence in Online Teaching, including Ludmila Krylova, lecturer in the Department of Accounting at the McCoy College of Business.

The award recognizes and rewards superior online teaching, provides models of excellence for fellow faculty, and encourages all faculty to continue to improve and advance their online teaching pedagogy.

Texas State invites faculty and staff to attend a Virtual Award Reception and Showcase via Zoom on Thursday, February 10, 2022, from noon to 1:15 p.m., to learn what makes the award winners' online courses successful.

The recipients of the Online Teaching Award, Ludmila Krylova, Department of Accounting; Dr. Kimberly Talley, Department of Engineering Technology; and Dr. Tiankai Wang, Department of Health Information Management, will discuss their winning courses and the elements that contribute to the courses’ unique character and effectiveness.

"This award is a recognition of incremental and collective efforts," said Krylova, a CPA who has taught various accounting courses for Texas State in the last 10 years. "Instructional designers, Tami Butcher and Brian Sutherland, helped with putting my teaching ideas into pleasing and functional esthetics. Students provided invaluable feedback and challenged to be relevant every semester. Colleagues always supported along the way. I am forever grateful to all of them."

Krylova won the award for her online Accounting 2301 course at Texas State: Accounting in Organization and Society.

According to Dr. Ann Watkins, chair of the Department of Accounting, Krylova has developed innovative curriculum for online teaching and has been a standout for McCoy College in making presentations at the American Accounting Association national meetings and for the Texas Society of CPAs Accounting Educators Conference.

"Ludmila is a wonderful faculty member who is always willing to share her expertise with colleagues in the department, college, university, and beyond," Dr. Watkins said.

The Virtual Reception and Showcase will feature a keynote address by Dr. Michelle Singh, Chair of the Board of the Texas Distance Learning Association and Assistant Commissioner of Digital Learning, Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. The showcase will also recognize the progress Texas State has made with Open Educational Resources. ✯
