PURPOSE

The purpose of this document is to establish policies and procedures for allocating summer school teaching among McCoy College faculty.

5.07 Criteria for Faculty Qualifications

GENERAL INFORMATION

1. When assigning faculty for summer teaching, the prime consideration will be given to the specific courses that need to be offered, the expertise of available faculty members, and budgetary constraints. No more than eight credit hours may be taught by a faculty member in a single summer term. The order of priority is:

A. Scholarly Academic (SA) and Practice Academic (PA) tenured faculty members by rank and seniority withinrank.

B. SA tenure-track faculty members by rank and seniority within rank.

C. Participating Scholarly Practitioner (SP) and Instructional Practitioner (IP) faculty members.

D. Supporting (IP) faculty members.

E. Other faculty.

F. Additional sections assigned by the priorities of 1-5 above.

2. Graduate and undergraduate courses earn the same workload credit. If additional sections are required and not covered by the above priorities, the Chair will be guided by departmental polices agreed on by the Chair and the Personnel Committee.
