Tracy Porter is a proven senior operating executive with over 40 years of experience in manufacturing as well as venture capital enterprises. He has established a proven track record of leading a world class organization and delivering strong financial results as well as integrating highly successful acquisitions and achieving internal business turn arounds. He has been instrumental in implementing new technologies and manufacturing processes. In 2010 Tracy successfully led the reorganization of a $4B business from a line-of-business model to a geographically regional model optimizing vertical integration. Performance and utilization rates were maximized because of this initiative.

Tracy is an industry expert in trade and has testified before the US International Trade Commission, Department of Commerce, as well as the US House of Representatives Steel Caucus. In addition, he has been a speaker or panelist before numerous organizations on matters from technology to safety.

Tracy is currently the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Commercial Metals Company (NYSE: CMC). CMC is a Fortune 400 company with revenues of $7.0B. His responsibilities include all US Operations as well as the company’s operations in the European Union. He oversees all commercial functions, manufacturing operations, supply chain, government affairs, and trade relations. He has held increasing roles of responsibility during his 30 years with CMC.

Tracy has broad experience with strategic business transformations and M&A transactions. He was on the executive team that successfully thwarted a takeover attempt by an activist shareholder in 2011. He and the CEO were Executive Sponsors of the $600M Gerdau rebar mill and fabrication acquisition in 2018. He was also instrumental in the development and implementation of a strategic plan that resulted in the acquisition of several accretive businesses and the divestiture of non-core assets.

Tracy served an unprecedented two terms as Chairman of the Steel Manufacturers Association based in Washington DC. He has served on numerous civic, business, and governmental boards at both the local and state level. In 2017 Tracy was the recipient of the James F. Collins Steel Industry Advocacy Award.

He has been the Executive Sponsor of an on-going Customer Service initiative that has led to industry leading customer service as recognized by Jacobson and Associates. Before moving into operations, his early career experience included accounting, finance, IT, and business analytics.

He received his Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Texas State University and was recognized as a Distinguished Alumni by the University in 2018. He is a member of the Association for Iron & Steel Technology.
