Miguel Guerrero, Senior Recruiter, Visa Inc.

Miguel is a 2010 Texas State graduate with a BBA in Marketing. As a student, Miguel was highly involved in the Hispanic Business Student Association, First Generation Student Organization and SIFE - Students in Free Enterprise.

After graduating, Miguel began his professional career as a Career Advisor in the Texas State Career Services office. After five years of working with students and employers on campus, he pursued a new role as part of the university recruiting team at Visa Inc. One of the largest payments technology companies in the world. As a Sr. Recruiter, he leads university recruting efforts for Cybersecurity and Corporate IT work groups and is a key member of process improvement projects focusing on cross function collaboration.

Alex Middlebrook

Alexandra Middlebrook, Employer Relations Coordinator, Texas State Career Services

Alex Middlebrook is the Employer Relations Coordinator in the office of Career Services at Texas State University. In this role she creates programs, designs innovated approaches and stays up to date with industry trends in order to provide the best service and support for students, alumni and employers alike. After graduating with a BBA in Management from Texas State University in 2014, Alex spent time as an Event Coordinator in Austin, Texas where she managed and developed a wide variety of professional service events.

Giselle Myers

Giselle Myers, Marketing and Communications Specialist, Greater San Marcos Partnership

Giselle Myers is the Marketing and Communications Specialist at the Greater San Marcos Partnership, responsible for the organization's promotional and messaging efforts in national markets through social media, website maintenance, and digital communication.

She originally joined GSMP in the fall of 2017 as the marketing intern and contributed to projects including increasing search engine optimization, improving social media presence, and contributing to signature events.

Originally from Houston, Giselle developed a passion for the Central Texas region while studying at Texas State. A 2018 marketing graduate, she has been contributing to the efforts of transforming the region between Austin and San Antonio into the Texas Innovation Corridor.

Dusty Whittaker, Accounting Manager, Summit Hotel Properties

Dusty is an Accounting Manager at Summit Hotel Properties, a publicly traded Hospitality REIT with 77 hotels operating in 24 states. Dusty works in corporate accounting overseeing, the companies SEC Reporting requirements, the accounting for acquisitions, the purchase to pay process for the development of new hotels, and renovation of existing hotels and the tracking of the company’s fixed assets. Prior to joining Summit Hotel Properties, Dusty worked for EY in the Assurance practice and assisted in campus recruiting at Texas State University. In addition to his work experience, Dusty volunteers with the company’s sponsored charity developing a farm to table experience for campers.

Bruce Howard is an alumni of Texas State University and brings more than 40 years of business and leadership experience in the fields of accounting, finance, energy, management and marketing to help students and alumni of the McCoy College of Business with developing effective career strategies. In addition to his work experience Bruce has volunteered his time with many workforce and economic development organizations in and around San Antonio delivering speeches, presentations and panel discussions about a variety of career management topics.

Karen Carroll has been with 3M for 28 years. She holds a BBA in Finance, with a minor in Economics from Texas State University. In her current role as Vice President and General Auditor for 3M Company, Carroll  heads the assurance audit function as well as the company’s ERM activities. Her 3M experience includes Finance positions in Health Care, Safety and Graphics, Electronics and Energy, Consumer, Industrial Business as well as Corporate Audit. Carroll also spent four years in the Brownwood, Texas plant as plant controller.

Lorenzo Gomez III, Founder and Chair, Geekdom; author of "The Cilantro Diaries"

Lorenzo Gomez III has served as CEO of Geekdom, Texas' largest coworking space, and is cofounder of The 80/20 Foundation, a philanthropic organization dedicated to investing in the future of San Antonio. Lorenzo collaborates with a network of professionals to fortify growth of the tech district in downtown San Antonio. He is a co-founder of Techblock and serves as board member, advisor, and mentor for a variety of local and national tech and entrepreneurial endeavors.

Lorenzo is the author of "The Cilantro Diaries." In his inspiring and humorous true story of hope and accomplishment, Lorenzo shares the steps he took up the ladder and the guiding principles that got him to the top.

Elliott Weeks, Founder & Owner, Old Enfield Supply Co.

Elliott Weeks grew up in Austin, Texas. In 2004 Elliott joined the United States Marine Corps as an Infantry Rifleman. After serving in both Afghanistan and Iraq, Elliott moved back to Austin, where he got a degree from the University of Texas. In 2015, Elliott purchased an industrial sewing machine. With self-determination and a little help from his mother and grandmother, Elliott learned to sew. What started as a hobby—designing and stitching backpacks and duffel bags—soon turned into a talent and, more importantly, a vision.

Stewart Geise, Managing Director, CRBE Asset Services

Stewart Geise is the Managing Director of Asset Services in Central Texas, encompassing Austin, San Antonio and El Paso. He oversees 23 million square feet of office, industrial and retail properties, and 90 property personnel. Prior to his role as Managing Director, Stewart was an Associate Director for CBRE, managing an office portfolio of 3 million square feet in Houston, Texas. His primary responsibilities include a concentration in client and tenant relations, property management and personnel development; while collaborating on new business pursuits, CBRE’s Military Program​, recruiting, retaining and developing top talent.

Justin Fischer, Assistant Criminal District Attorney

Criminal Law for the Business Student

Justin Fischer graduated from Texas State with a BBA in Finance and Economics in 2003 and received his law degree from St. Mary's Law School in San Antonio in 2008. From 2009 through 2018 Justin was in private practice at his own firm practicing civil and criminal law. In 2019 Justin began working at the Bexar County District Attorney's office as an Assistant Criminal District Attorney working in the special crimes division. In his current position he prosecutes computer crimes, white collar crimes and crimes involving public servants as either the victim or defendant at the felony level. While not at work Justin is married to his wife of 7 years Ashley who is an attorney for HEB and he has twin 3 year-olds, Jackson and Reagan

I am a proud Bobcat, class of 2011. I then graduated from St. Mary's University where I earned my J.D. I have worked in several different areas of the legal field, including eight months in Dallas helping people recover from the hurricanes and wildfires in 2017. I now work for the Board of Dental Examiners as an attorney.

Joah Spearman, CEO & Founder, Localeur

Joah Spearman is co-founder and CEO overseeing business development, community management, marketing and investor relations. Before Localeur, Spearman co-founded an experiential marketing agency which worked closely with SXSW and ESPN X Games, and earlier served as a social media and communications adviser to companies ranging from FedEx to Volkswagen. Joah is on the board of directors for AIDS Services of Austin and KLRU-TV (Austin's PBS affiliate) and previously served as vice chair of the Austin Music Commission and a member of its Downtown Commission. Joah was recently named one of the Top 10 Black Innovators of 2014 by MVMT 50 ("Movement 50") and was named Emerging Business Leader of the Year by the Greater Austin Black Chamber in 2013 along with being a four-time finalist for Austin’s Under 40 Awards. He is also the co-author of Real Role Models: Successful African Americans Beyond Pop Culture (Univ. of Texas Press).

He currently serves as Chairman of the Board for a private elementary school in Austin and serves as Advisory Director for the San Marcos region of Frost Bank and the McCoy College of Business at Texas State.

Thomas Ortiz Moerke is an Associate Analyst in the Advisory Services practice of Ernst & Young, LLP. He graduated from Texas State with a degree in Finance. Prior to joining EY, Thomas spent time working in the finance department of the United Nations office in Panama. He also had the opportunity to teach English in the Basque country of Northern Spain. Thomas is an active member of his community, participating in the EY College Maps’ program where he mentors local high school students. He currently sits on the board of directors for the Crews Kolodzey Foundation.

The Value of Design Thinking

In his current role at Delta, Willy provides strategy and consulting to Delta’s internal business units with regards to technology and internal/external processes. He and his team’s primary remit is to assure that new innovations start with a thorough and empathetic understanding of the customer. His current projects span a range of technologies (e.g., biometric scanning and blockchain) and business units (e.g., aircraft engineering, airport operations, and corporate real estate). Willy’s academic background has also lead him to take on more of the University initiatives and relationships within the innovation center, such as intern recruiting and research partnerships.

Dr. Alkire’s research interests include Transformative Service Research and Technology in Service. Dr. Alkire has published her research in a number of journals including the Journal of Service Management, the Journal of Services Marketing, The Service Industries Journal, European Journal of Management, and the Journal of Organizational Culture, Communications and Conflict.

Dr. Alkire serves as Editorial Director of the Journal of Service Management, Associate Editor of the Service Industries Journal, and Associate Editor of the Journal of Services Marketing. She is Co-Chair of the American Marketing Association – Service Special Interest Group (AMA SERVSIG).

Dr. Alkire has been a guest speaker at international academic and industry conferences and has presented in the United Kingdom, Sweden, and Australia among others.
