Texas State AMA Excels at 30th AMA International Collegiate Conference

Members of the Texas State American Marketing Association attended the 30th Annual AMA International Collegiate Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana on April 3rd – 5th.  The conference was designed to provide the ultimate marketing experience which included professional guest speakers, a career fair, and networking opportunities.  The American Marketing Association is one of the largest professional associations for marketers and has over 38,000 members worldwide in every area of marketing.  There are over 300 student AMA chapters from schools in the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico.

For the third year of entering, Texas State was one of eight finalists from a field of fifty-six entries in the AMA Case Competition.  This year’s client was McGraw-Hill, and the task was to develop a complete marketing campaign to help McGraw-Hill Higher Education develop and promote an online e-commerce portal to college students.  At the meeting, each of the eight finalists made a formal presentation to the client who determined the final rankings.  The Texas State Case Competition team was awarded second place.  First place was awarded to the University of Pennsylvania.

The Texas State AMA chapter received many accolades during the conference.  Based on the submitted chapter plan and annual report, Texas State was recognized as “Outstanding Chapter.”  This honor acknowledges Texas State as one of the top sixteen chapters internationally.
