President and CEO, Barshop & Oles Company
Pat Oles is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Barshop & Oles Company, a privately owned Texas based commercial real estate development and management firm.
Since 1983, the Company and its affiliates have developed, owned and/or managed over 5 million square feet of shopping centers, industrial and office properties and master planned projects in Texas, including the highly acclaimed Central Park in Austin and Northwoods in San Antonio.
Prior to forming Barshop & Oles Company and its related companies in 1983, Mr. Oles served on the senior staff of the Governor of Texas William P. Clements, Jr., as Director of Governmental Appointments from 1980-1982.
Mr. Oles has been involved in numerous governmental business and civic organizations, including ten years of service on the Board of Directors of the Lower Colorado River Authority, where he served as chairman of the board in 1989.
He currently serves as chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Texas Parks & Wildlife Foundation, the non-profit partner of the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department and the Advisory Board of Directos of JPMorgan Chase. He was chairman of the local chapter of the Young Presidents Organization and a trustee of the Texas Nature Conservancy and Texas Water Foundation. Mr. Oles currently holds the McCoy Chair for Studies in Entrepreneurship in the McCoy College of Business Administration at Texas State University. He was educated at the University of Texas at Austin, receiving a BBA in Finance.
Mr. Oles, a native Texas, is married to the former Julie Donnell Jones of Dallas. Julie is also an active volunteer and officer in many civic organizations having chaired the annual fundraising events for the Junior League of Austin, the Austin Museum of Art and Children's Hospital of Austin. She was appointed by President George W. Bush in 2002 to serve as a member of the President's Advisory Committee on the Arts for the Kennedy Center, and Mrs. Oles is currently a member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees for the Texas State History Museum Foundation. Julie and Pat have three children, Elizabeth Sterling, Catherine Brooke and Charles Patrick, III.
