George A. Pontikes, Jr., President / CEO
George has been involved in development and construction activities since the mid-1970s. He started out working in the field and has worked in every capacity from a laborer to numerous crafts all the way to superintendent, project manager and eventually President. These experiences have allowed him to build successful companies and partnerships, all related to construction. Currently, George is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Satterfield & Pontikes Construction, Inc., a General Contractor headquartered in Houston, Texas with offices in Dallas/Fort Worth, San Antonio, Austin, and New Orleans, Louisiana.
George has always been committed to using the latest in technology to improve the construction process. Drawing on the lessons he has learned on hundreds of projects, he has pioneered the development of many technological advancements and his involvement in Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) and Building Information Modeling (BIM) are the logical progressions of that commitment. George’s personal involvement with IPD, as well as his financial commitment to testing it on his own building, has produced a project that has been recognized by the American Institute of Architects (AIA) with a national award for most inspirational BIM pilot project for 2006. The project garnered more than a dozen other industry awards for architecture, construction, innovation, and sustainability.
As the major stockholder of the firm, George is most sensitive to client needs and has proven that satisfied clients generally become colleagues and friends as well as repeat customers. Currently, in addition to being the President and CEO of Satterfield & Pontikes, George serves on several boards including: the Houston Chapter of the AGC; the Parish School, a private institution specializing in teaching language-challenged children; the Galveston Bay Foundation, and (ISI) Infrastructure Structures, Inc., a road and infrastructure contractor.
